The island of St. Croix in the beautiful U.S. Virgin Islands, with its turquoise waters, pristine beaches, and year-round warm weather, is an ideal setting for open water swims. Over two decades ago, in this breathtaking environment, the St. Croix Sea Swim tradition was born. As we prepare for the 22nd annual swim on Sunday, March 29, 2026 we invite you to be part of this iconic event, now recognized as a must-attend experience for open water enthusiasts.
The Participants
The St. Croix Sea Swim attracts many local and off-island participants each year, ranging in age from 8 to 80, with skill levels from beginners to world-class athletes, including Olympians and open water specialists.
Whether you're a seasoned swimmer or a beginner, this event is open to all ages and skill levels. So grab your swimsuit, goggles, and sunscreen, and get ready for an adventure like no other! Swimmers of all backgrounds and strokes are welcome to join!
The Winners' Circle
What makes the St. Croix Sea Swim stand out is its flawless course along the island’s stunning coastline. As one of the richest open water events in the Caribbean, the swim offers a variety of prizes and of course our cherished locally made medals! Previous prizes have included custom made jewelry, gift certificates and more! All finishers receive a commemorative t-shirt
and a goody bag.
Registration is now open, with proceeds supporting the St. Croix Dolphins Swim Team.
Benefitting the St. Croix Dolphins Swim Team and the St. Croix Swimming Association
The St. Croix Swimming Association/St. Croix Dolphins is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit founded in 1972 to provide children and adults on St. Croix with access to quality swim instruction, training, and facilities. Dedicated to promoting the sport of swimming and supporting youth fitness, the Association focuses on developing strong, confident, and well-rounded young people. Its home facility, located on the Good Hope Country Day School campus, features a 50-meter, six-lane competitive pool and a heated 15-meter learn-to-swim pool.
